The Paul Bewie Boys & Girls Club - Great Futures Start Here
For over 140 years the Boys & Girls Club has been serving the children of the United States. In 1860 three ladies noticed that the boys in their neighborhood had no where to go and were getting into trouble on the street. They decided to invite them into their home for tea and cookies and to try to teach them the politness of the day. From those humble beginnings, the Boys & Girls Club grew into an organization that serves over four million children through over 4,000 clubs throughout the U.S. and on U. S. military bases around the world. Here at the Paul Bewie Boys & Girls Club we serve over 500 youth each year through our after school and athletics programs.
This year we began with a new collaberation with the Jessieville and Fountain Lake Schools. The schools purchased the building and property from the Club and will be using it for their Alternative Learning Environment and sports programs during the day and we will be using it for the Boys & Girls Club in the evening. It allows the building and grounds to be more fully used with a minimal expense to either the Schools or the Club. One of the great benefits to the Club is that we can now use more of our funds for the kids because we aren't paying a note to the bank.
Thanks in part to the new arrangement with the Schools, the Club will be able to concentrate on improving our programs and equipment. The Club will be implementing several new programs in our core areas: Character Development and Leadership Development; Education and Career Development; Health and Life Skills; The Arts; and Sports, Fitness and Recreation. These core areas are the building blocks of our Club and we will be offering various opportunities in each area. Additionally, we will continue providing a safe, caring place for kids with dedicated adult leadership.

A Note from our Chief Volunteer Officer
Dear Friends,
I have been a volunteer on the Board of Directors for the Paul Bewie Boys & Girls Club for a little over six years now and the Chief Volunteer Officer for the last two. When I became involved I joined the Board because I saw a need to provide a safe and secure place for the kids and I felt the Club was a great answer to that need. We went through some tough times but we are about to embark on a new path. With our continued support, yours and mine, we can secure a brighter future for the kids.
On January 28, 2013 the Jessieville Schools, Fountain Lake Schools and the Club closed on a deal to sell our property to the schools. They will use a part of the property for an Alternative School and we will use part for the Boys & Girls Club. This change will be a great benefit for all concerned. The schools get a permanent building to house their Alternative School and the Club will be able to provide better services to our kids.
This does not mean that the Club will become a part of the schools. It does mean that the funds the Club receives can go to a better program and increased services to the kids. It means that instead of paying a note every month we can concentrate on providing the very best services to the kids in a safe, clean and well cared for facility.
The schools have stepped up to help the Club. Now I am asking you to join me and continue to support the Club through your financial contributions and volunteer efforts. Your contributions and volunteer efforts will make for a bright future for all of our kids.
Thank you again for supporting the Club through the tough times and continuing to support us in our efforts to provide the very best Boys & Girls Club for the kids.
Sincerely,
Rick Cash
